Went to a show at the Barbican the venue itself was really nice. It had a good feel to it and the staff we spoke to were friendly, which I appreciated. But the audience around us was a bit of a problem. People nearby kept talking, checking their phones, talking again, and it just took me out of the moment. I kept hoping someone would step in, but nobody really did. Overall it was okay, just not as relaxed as I’d hoped

"Pretty decent help when my booking changed"
My event got cancelled, and I was a bit annoyed at first. But the email from Barbican was clear enough, umm, and it explained the options in a way that was easy to follow.
I chose a new date and everything went through without any trouble. The confirmation took about a day to arrive, but it wasn’t a big deal. Overall, I’d say they handled it well.

I booked my tickets through barbican.org.uk and the seat looked totally fine online, so I didn’t think twice about it. But once I got there, the view of the stage was disappointing. I had to lean forward for most of the show and still missed parts happening off to one side. For what I paid, I expected much better sightlines, or at the very least a clear warning during booking. i felt a bit left in the dark about what I was actually getting

"Decent, but some prices sting"
The film tickets are priced fairly, so I can’t complain too much there. Booking was simple enough too, which was a plus. That said, a few of the events felt overpriced for what they were, and that definitely stood out to me more than the good bits. Overall it’s okay value, but I’d probably double-check the price before booking anything beyond the films.

"Membership didn’t really feel worth it"
I signed up feeling hopeful that the membership would come with some decent perks, but i ended up a bit disappointed. The discounts were either really small or on stuff I wasn’t interested in, and the priority booking didn’t make much of a difference for me. For what it costs, I was expecting something more useful. I’m just not feeling it, so I won’t be renewing.

"Booking was super quick"
I booked my tickets really quickly, and the whole thing was easy. Just clicked through this and that, and it was done before I knew it...

"Helpful info before my visit"
The updates were clear and easy to follow, and they helped me figure out what to expect before I went, so I could plan my visit without feeling like I was guessing about everything.

"They actually helped me instead of making me feel like a nuisance"
I had a small issue with my booking and thought, typical, this is the kind of thing that always happens to me. I wasn’t even sure if I’d done something wrong, so I emailed Barbican expecting to be made to feel like it was my fault or just get some generic reply. But they got back to me really quickly, and it was clearly a real person who'd actually read my message. They were friendly, sorted it out, and didn’t make me feel stupid for asking. On the day, the staff at the venue were calm and helpful too, even though it was busy and I was half-expecting more hassle. Really good service in the end, and I’d be happy to book again.

"Good booking, confusing entrance"
I booked through barbican.org.uk and that part was totally fine. I went there sometime last month, or maybe the month before, and finding the right entrance was more confusing than it needed to be. The signs inside could definitely be clearer because I ended up walking around for ages before getting where I needed to go. The staff were helpful when I asked though, so it wasn’t a bad experience overall.

"A bit of a maze, but I enjoyed it"
I ended up at the Barbican for an evening event and spent a surprising amount of time just looking around before and after. There are loads of little corners and walkways, and the lighting gives the place a warmer feel than you’d expect from such a massive concrete building. I know the brutalist look probably isn’t everyone’s thing, but I actually think it’s cool and a bit different. I did get turned around a couple of times because the layout isn’t the easiest on a first visit, but overall I really liked the atmosphere. Would happily go back, probably a solid 4 stars for me

"I booked a family show after reading..."
I booked a family show after reading the age advice on the Barbican site. after I paid I had that little worry that maybe the info would turn out to be vague or not quite accurate, but it was actually really clear and suited my kids perfectly. No awkward surprises on the day, and the timings were useful too. It made planning with children a lot less stressful.

"Parking was such a pain"
Went to the Barbican recently the parking was so stressful. Took ages to find a spot anywhere close by, and when we finally did it cost way more than I was expecting. The place itself is really nice, but driving there just isn’t worth the hassle tbh.

"Lines moved fast and security was smooth"
I went through with my brother, and we were both surprised how quickly the queue moved. Security was straightforward too, so it ended up being a much easier experience than we expected.

"Handy location, easy enough to reach..."
I went to the Barbican last weekend it was easy to get to. The Tube is close by and there are a few bus options around too, so getting there didn’t feel like a chore. The area can be a little confusing if it’s your first time wandering around it, though... but once you figure out where you’re going, it’s fine. Overall, a really decent spot for transport.

"Good coffee, but felt a bit rushed"
The coffee and snacks were nice, and everything worked out fine for a quick stop. It was a bit on the pricey side though, and I did feel slightly pressured to order quickly, which took away from the relaxed vibe a little.

"Nice visit, just busier than I expected"
I had a good time at the Barbican overall, but it did feel packed in certain spots. After the event finished, the corridors got a bit congested and moving around was slower than I’d hoped. It wasn’t quite as chaotic as some big venues I’ve been to, but definitely busier than a regular museum or gallery visit. The staff were friendly and helpful, so it didn’t spoil the experience. I’d just say they could use a smoother way to manage the flow when there’s a big crowd.

"Something felt seriously off about the place"
Went there for an event the toilets were grim. Bins were overflowing, a few seats felt like they were one sit away from collapsing, and the whole place just had this neglected vibe. I’m not saying there’s some grand cover-up, but it did feel like everyone in charge had collectively agreed to pretend the facilities were fine. For a venue hosting events, I expected the basics to be way better

I picked up a tote and a few postcards from the Barbican shop, and I thought the quality was really nice. The staff were friendly too, and I liked that I didn’t feel rushed while browsing. I also ordered something online later and, in my experience, the delivery was quick. I’d definitely be happy to buy from them again.

"Ticket change went okay"
Needed to swap my tickets. Easy overall. The refund rules felt a little strict. But they were clear on the site, so no big surprise

"Missed half the show because of strict rules"
Had a frustrating time at the Barbican, honestly. I was only a few minutes late because the tube was delayed, but they wouldn’t let me in until a break, so I ended up missing a big part of the show I’d Paid for.
Later on I stepped out for a bit and then found out re-entry wasn’t allowed either. The staff just kept pointing to the policy like that somehow made it less annoying, which didn’t really help.
I get that rules are rules, but the whole thing felt really harsh and not very customer friendly. Left feeling like the experience mattered less than the Rulebook, so yeah, I’d definitely think twice before booking again.
